Next Step Confidentiality
Confidentiality is paramount to most people, myself included. I am sure most people reading this website are saying to themselves, “it would be great to have someone do this overwhelming job for us but what about all the private documents, letters and secrets that are in everyone’s home? We can’t let a stranger see what might be hidden under the mattress!”
As part of the hiring of Next Step, there is a legally binding contract covering all the terms and conditions of the assignment as well as a confidentiality agreement.
It has been my experience that having a stranger find some of these personal items is better than family members finding them. As part of my contract I would need to have a family contact that assumes responsibility for all financial documents found in the house and all personal and private items that may be uncovered during the cleaning out process. My position is not to delve into the personal life of someone but to assist the family in clearing and organizing the space once lived in by a loved one or family member.
